there was a big silence in the afternoon of sunday, december 26th 2004 on varkala beach. this man watched the water which was much closer than usually. the village on the south west coast of india has not been destroyed because it is on a high cliff with all hotels and restaurants on top. the beach which is also protected from high cliffs on its south and north end has been totally re-formed by the power of the waves. fortunately nobody was harmed and nothing was damaged.
